My Position on Local Issues

Gardner Sludge Landfill

The current plan by The Gardner City Leadership to expand the sludge landfill is inadequate, ill-advised, and dangerous.  By allowing the creation of the sludge landfill, the city leaders are endangering our citizens and the water supply of East Templeton.  This weak solution the city has accepted will only last 17 years with no plan beyond that.  It is unreasonable to subject the people of Gardner and East Templeton to a weak, foolish solution that risks the health and welfare of the people that live and depend on the water source that this area provides.  There are better solutions.  I will work with city leadership to find better alternatives to protect the health and welfare of the residents directly affected by the sludge landfill.  Click here to read my official statement on the Sludge Landfill.

Economic Development

Gardner for many decades was an economic powerhouse.  Since the deindustrialization of our beloved Chair City, politicians have ignored the deterioration of our downtown area and as a result lost tax revenue.  As an entrepreneur, I know that the backbone of America are our small and medium size businesses.  One of my strongest desires is to restore downtown Gardner, downtown Winchendon and support the economic health of the entire district.  Local government MUST change their attitudes toward small business and make every reasonable effort to bring them back. Wachusett Business Incubator

Once a shining economic star in the district, my opponent used the Wachusett Business Incubator as a political tool.  What was supposed a locally run, socioeconomic community booster, became a political weapon. My opponent made a negative political decision and consequently shut the WBI down in 2020.  The reason was to prevent local political competition in the following Gardner mayoral special election. There was a great deal of money (in excess of $250,000) involved in running the WBI and many of us are now wondering where did that money go?  Was it used to resurrect the current WBI entity or was it used for something else? I have every intention of finding out!  Click here to read my official statement on the matter.
